Jim Tinsley serves as an Advisor to Dinte Global Executive Search with a focus on professional services, defense, intelligence, and security sectors.
Most recently Jim was Vice President for Business Development & Strategy at Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace Inc. in the US and Chairman of the Board of the Norwegian-American Defense and Homeland Security Industry Council (NADIC).
Prior to that, he spent 20 years as a management consultant serving the global aerospace and defense industry. As a Managing Director at Avascent, Jim supported the growth of the firm through the initial management buy-out of DFI Corporate Services and its eventual sale to Oliver Wyman in 2022.
Jim worked extensively for global firms seeking to enter the US market, including companies from Norway, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Spain, France, UK, Germany, Israel, India, the Netherlands, Canada, Australia, and Italy, among others. This experience instilled a deep understanding of the US defense market, broad perspectives on the global defense market, and heightened cultural understanding.
Additionally, Jim was an account lead and trusted advisor to some of the largest US defense companies as well as many specialized firms across diverse markets, levels of the supply chain (materials to components to platforms), and business models (OEM, systems, commercial, distribution, services, etc.). He directed or supported over 70 M&A transactions including buy- and sell-side due diligence and screening efforts across the defense market landscape.
Jim has a bachelor’s degree in communications from James Madison University in communications and a master’s degree in design from University of Baltimore.
